1899 - Pilcher Dies after Glider Crash

On October 2, 1899 British glider pilot and designer Percy Pilcher (aged 32) died after being injured in glider crash in Leicestershire, England. Pilcher was one of the world's leading glider desingers and pilots. His glider called "The Hawk" fell over 30 feet when the wing spar failed.
