1817- Era of Good Feeling

 

The "Era of Good Feeling," as it became known, was a period during which President Monroe had the support of the entire nation. He faced no significant opposition in his run for the Presidency, and was accepted as a competent President.

Monroe's tours of New England, followed by parts of the West, were well received throughout the country. Below the surface, however, the issues dividing much of the country remained, and would soon reappear on the public stage.
