July 1961- President Kennedy's Schedule

1 The President, the First Lady, Joseph Kennedy. Mr and Mrs Ted Kennedy. Lemoyne Billing and Miss Ann Gargan spent the day on the Ambassador's boat the Marla
2 The President and the First Lady attended church at St Xaviers Church. They spent the day boating.
3 The President and First Lady Mr and Mrs Ted Sorenson, Robert Kennedy, Mr and Mrs Ted Kennedy, Mrs Sargen Shriver and Miss ann Gargan spent the day sailing.
4 The President spent Fourth of July sailing
5 The President returned to Washington. President Kennedy motored to Simon Bolivar Plaza were he gave a speech celebrating the 150th anniversary of Independence of Venezuela. The President then met with Dean Rusk. The President met with departing Ambassador to Portugal. The President met with McGeorge Bundy, General Maxwell Taylor, and Walt Rostow.
6 The President met with Senator Edmund Muskie. The President then held a meeting on Civil Defense. The President then met with his Business Advisory Council that included the Chairman of the Board of US Steel, Bechtel, the President of AT&T the Chairman of Goldman Sach's and the President of Corning Fiberglass. Robert Donovan had an off the record lunch with the President. In the afternoon the President met with the Secretary of Labor and representatives of the United Steel Workers. The President had an off the record meeting with Dean Rusk.
7 The President had an off the record with Dean Rusk, Adolf Berle Jr and Richard Goodwin. The President then had a Cabinet Meeting. The President met with the Ambassador to Nigeria. the President had a meeting with Congressman Armistead Selden Jr. After lunch the President met with Congressman Wayne Aspinall. The President then met with Herve Alphand Ambassador of France. The President then traveled to Hyannis Port.
8 The President and Mrs Kennedy spent the afternoon boating with General Maxwell Taylor, Dean Rusk and Robert McNamara.
9 The President and the First Lady attended church at St Francis Xavier Church. On the schedule for the afternoon was the President and Caroline Kennedy taking a walk to a news shop.
10 The President and First Lady returned to the White House. The President met with Dean Rusk and American Ambassador to Pakistan. The President spoke to the Citizens Committee for International Development. President Kennedy had a meeting with David Bell the Director of the Budget and two of his staff members. The President had an off the record meeting with John McCloy and McGeorge Bundy.
11 The President began the day with a Legislative Leaders Breakfast. The President met with the board of the Tennessee Valley Authority and the Congressional delegation from the areas served. The President then had a meeting with Congressman's Zablocki, Fountain, Saun, Fascell, Johnson. The President then met with the National Agricultural Advisory Commission. The President then greeted the President Ayub Khan of Pakistan . After lunch the President met with the President of Pakistan and his entourage. The President and First Lady accompanied the Pakistani President and his daughter aboard yachts for a short sale to Mt Vernon, the home of President Washington, were a State dinner was held in honor of the Pakistani President.
12 The President had breakfast with Secretary of State Dean Rusk. The President had a meeting with President Khan of Pakistan. The President met with the Foreign Minister of the Republic of Mali. The President met with a large delegation from the NAACP( National Association for the Advancement of Colored People). The President met with Congressman Francis Walter. The President then met with the members of the House Foreign Affairs Committee. The President had an off the record meeting with with Robert Mc Namara, General Maxwell Taylor, and McGeorge Bundy.
13 The President began his day meeting with 1,850 American Field Service Students fro 50 Countries. The President me with the President of Pakistan. The President then met with nine members of the Senate Foreign Affairs Relations Committee. The President then met with National Security Council. The President met with Dean Rusk, Douglas Dillon, General Maxwell Taylor and McGeorge Bundy. In the evening the President went and First Lady attended a dinner in their honor by President of Pakistan given in the Mayflower Hotel.
14 President Kennedy had an off the record meeting with General Maxwell Taylor. The President had an off the record meeting with members of the House Foreign Affairs Committee. The President had an off the record meeting with Dean Rusk, McGeorge Bundy, Menen Williams, Hayden William, Lyman Lemnitzer, William Broomfield, General Maxwell Taylor, Allen Dulles, Richard Bissell and Roger Hilsman. The President then had an off the record meeting with General Maxwell Taylor. The President had a meeting with representatives of Brazil. The President had a short off the record meeting with Senator Stuart Symington, before going for his daily swim. The President had off the record lunch wit Senator Stuart Symington. The President met with Robert McKinney the outgoing US Ambassador to Switzerland. The President had an Off the record meeting with Robert McNamara, Lyman Lemnitzer, Allen Dulles and McGeorge Bundy. The President and First Lady left for Hyannis Port.
15 The President and Mrs Kennedy, and Caroline Kennedy together with Mr and Mrs Smith cruised on the Marlin.
16 The President and Mrs Kennedy motored to St Francis Xavier Church.
17 The President returned to Washington first thing in the morning. His first meeting when her returned was with Dean Rusk. The President met with RFK and General Maxwell Taylor. The President of Tanganyika met the President next. The President had lunch wit Chester Bowles. He then had an off the record meeting with the Senate Foreign Relations Committee. The President then had an off the record meeting with;Rusk, Dillon, McNamara, Maxwell Taylor, Lemnitzer, RFK and McGeorge Bundy.
18 The President began his day with a Legislative Leaders Breakfast. The President met with General Maxwell Taylor, McGeorge Bundy and Chester Clifton. The President then had an off the record meeting with Dr Miro Cardona the head of the anti-castro Cuban Revolutionary Council. The President then met with the newly appointed US Ambassador to Sierra Leone. The had an off the record lunch with Senator Hubert Humphrey. The President met with representatives of the Small Business Associations. He then met with the Joint Chief of Staff. The President had a off the record meeting on Cuba.
19 The President began his day with a breakfast meeting with Dean Rusk, Robert McNamara, Walter Heller, McGeorge Bundy, Theodore Sorensen and Pierre Salinger. The President then gave a press conference. The President then met with the new Ambassador from Poland. The President then had an off the record meeting with Senator Richard Russell and Congressman George Mahon. The President then had an off the record meeting with his security team, and this meeting was followed by an official meeting of the National Security Council. In the evening the President took a cruise on the Honey Fitz with Douglas Dillon and his wife and their daughter, Senator and Mrs Symington, Mr and Mrs Clark Clifford, William Walton and Nan MacAvy
20 The President had a meeting with the National Security Council to begin the day. The President then signed HR-6441 the Federal Water Pollution Act. The President then met off the record with Congressman Frank Thompson and Senator Wayne Morse. The President had a meeting with General Douglas MacArthur. The President then had a lunch in his honor. The President continued to have off the record security meetings through the afternoon. The subject of the meetings were all Berlin.
21 The President began his day with a meeting with Congressman Carl Vinson. He met with the US Ambassador to China(Taiwan). President Kennedy then met with a group of NATO parliamentarians. The President then met with the Ambassador of Afghanistan. The President then traveled to Hyannis Port.
22 The President the First Lady and Caroline spent the day boating and swimming
23 The President and First Lady attended Mass at St Francis Xavier Church. After church the family spent the day boating and swimming
24 The President returned to the White House. He had an off the record meeting with Charles Bartlett. He then met with: Dean Rusk, Walter Heller, Douglas Dillon, Robert Kennedy, Abraham Ribicoff, Arthur Goldberg, Paul Samuelson, Edward Murrow, David Bell, Theodore Sorensen, McGeorge Bundy. The President met in the afternoon with Theodore Sorensen, Christian Herier, Walter Heller, and LBJ.
25 The President began his day with a Legislative Leaders Breakfast. The President met with the US Ambassador for Nigeria . President Kennedy met with Senator Clairborne Pell. The President hosted a luncheon in honor of the Prime Minister of Nigeria Sir Ababuakur Tafawa Balewa. After the luncheon the President met with Dean Rusk, RFK, Theodore Sorenson and McGeorge Bundy. The President then met with the Prime Minister of Nigeria. In the evening the President spoke to the American people on the situation in Berlin.
26 The President began the day with breakfast with Dean Rusk. The President then had an off the record meeting Robert McNamara. The President had a meeting with Bernard Baruch. The President then presented the Distinguished Service medal to Admiral Arleigh Burke. After lunch the President met with Congressman Chafrels Halleck. He then had an off the record meeting with;Rusk, McNamara, Acheson, Nitze, Fowler, Kohler, Chayes, General Gray and Martin Hillebrand. The President ended his day with an off the record meeting with Emilio Collado the President of Exxon and first President of the World Bank
27 The President had an off the record meeting with Congressman Gerald Ford. He then met with the Prime Minister of Nigeria. The President then had an off the record meeting with Senator Everett Dirksen. After lunch the President had an off the record meeting with the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff followed by an official meeting with the Joint Chiefs. In the evening the President went to Mayflower Hotel to attend a State Dinner given on his behalf by the visiting Prime Minister of Nigeria.
28 The President began the day with a meeting with Dean Rusk. He then hosted a two hour meeting on South East Asia. The meeting also prepared the upcoming visit of Chen Cheng the Vice President of the Republic of China. The President met with the US Ambassador to Cambodia. The President traveled late in the afternoon to Hyannis Port
29 The President and the First Family spent the day swimming, playing tennis and boating.
30 The President and the First Lady attended church at St Francis Xavier Church. They then spent the day boating.
31 The President returned to Washington. The President met with the Vice President of the Republic of China (Taiwan). The President gave a luncheon at the White House in honor of the Chinese Vice President. The President then met with Governor David Lawrence of Pennsylvania, Mayor Daley of Chicago, Judge Beverly Briely of Tennessee . The President then had an off the record meeting with Senator Jacob Javits. The President met with William Snow the departing Ambassador to Paraguay. In the evening the President had an off the record meeting with John McCloy and Dean Rusk.
