December 1962- President Kennedy's Schedule


 

1 The President began his day meeting his aids. The President next met with two reporters from the Manchester Guardian. The President next met with Rowland Evans. After that the President left for Philadelphia for the Army Navy Game. The President attended the game and returned to Washington by train. He then went to Glen Ora.
2 President and Mrs. Kennedy attend Mass at the Middleburg, Virginia, Community Center after which they travel to Rattlesnake Farm to see their new home site.
3 The President returned to the White House. Next the President had a meeting with the EXCOMM to discuss Cuba and Averell Harriman's trip to India and Pakistan. The President next presented the Enrico Fermi Award to Dr Edward Teller. The President then hosted a luncheon in honor of the Japanese Delegation that includes the Foreign Minister and Finance Minister of Japan.
4 President Kennedy greeted the wives of Japanese Ministers. He then had a meeting with Herve Alphand the Ambassador of France. He next met with the newly elected Senator Abraham Ribicoff. The President next met with newly appointed Ambassador of the Republic of Niger. The President next met with Clark Clifford. In the afternoon the President met with Foreign Minister of Denmark Per Christen Haekkerup.
5 The President began his day with a meeting with John Maguire. He next met with William Rivkin the US Ambassador to Luxembourg. Next the President participated in a meeting t on the 1964 military budget with Robert McNamara, Harold Brown, Charles J. Hitch, Gen. Maxwell Taylor, David Bell, Elmer Staats, and Jerome Wiesner. The President next met with Sa'ad Jum'a the Ambassador of Jordan. Before going for his daily swim the President met with General Lucius Clay. The President upon returning to Oval Office met with Douglas Dillon, David Bell , Theodore Sorensen and Lawrence O'Brien. In the evening the President held a reception for the Business Council. The Chairman of the Board and President of many major corporations attended.
6 President Kennedy met with Averell Harriman and Michael Forrestal. He then received the recipients of the 1962 Rockefeller Public Service Award. The President then had a meeting with the EXCOMM to discuss Cuba. The President next met with Dr Stafford Warren. After Lunch the President received the Kennedy Foundation Award Winners. The Presidents last meeting was with Dean Rusk, Robert McNamara and McGeorge Bundy. The President and the First Lady held a reception for the Judiciary.
7 President Kennedy left for Offutt Airforce Base in Nebraska. He inspected SAC facilities at the base. The President next went to Santa Fe New Mexico. He spoke at the airport and then traveled to Los Alamos. At Los Alomos the President inspected the facilities. He gave a brief press conference. The President and his party continued to the town football stadium and there gave a speech. The President then traveled to Albuquerque New Mexico. In Albuquerque the President went to Sandia Corporation and received a briefing on the Atomic research they were doing. The President spent the night in the Western Skies Motel.
8 The President Traveled to Indian Springs Air Force Base. He Visit to the Atomic Energy Commission's nuclear rocket development station at the Rover Missile site Test Area, Jackson Flats, Nevada The President the flew to Palm Springs California were the President went to the Crosby residence were he stayed.
9 The President went to church at Sacred Hear Church. For the rest of the day President Kennedy rests and relaxes at the home of actor Bing Crosby in Palm Springs, California. After Midnight the President left for Washington.
10 After and overnight flight the President returned to the White House. The President first meeting of the day was with Dean Rusk, Robert McNamara, and McGeorge Bundy. The President participated in the swearing in of the Commissioner of Education. After Lunch the President met with George Ball, Charles Cole the US Ambassador to Chile, Edwin Martin, Tepodre Moscoso and Ralph Dungan. The President next had a Cabinet Meeting. Following the Cabinet meeting the President Met with the EXCOMM to discuss Cuba. That meeting ended at 7:15 at which time the President met with Senator Russell Long.
11 The President began his day with a meeting with Chester Bowles. He then chaired a meeting of the EXCOMM on Brazil. Next the President greeted the Alesandri Rogriguez the President of Chile. The President next met with Bud Wilkinson. Next the President met with John McCloy. The President next had a Luncheon in honor of the President of Chile. After the Luncheon the President met with the President of Chile. The President next met with John Conley of the Kansas City Star. He met with Laura Berquist. The President next President was with James Hagerty, William McAndrew, Dick Salant and Blair Clark.
12 The President began his day with a Breakfast meeting to prepare for his Press Conference. He then met with the US Ambassador to the United Arab Republic (Egypt). The President next met with Anthony Celebreze the Secretary of HEW. The President met with the President and VP of Sears Roebuck. The President next met with the labor leaders George Meany and Walter Reuther. The President then traveled to the Embassy of Chile for a luncheon given in his honor by the President of Chile. The President then gave a Press Conference. After the Press Conference the President met with the Chilean President. He the met with Congressman Wilbur Mills. The President and First Lady attended the Staff Christmas Party.
13 The President began his day with a lengthy meeting with former President of Brazil Juscelino Kubitschek and former President of Colombia Lerras Cammargo. The President then met with Senator Robet Kerr. The President next met with Edgar Kaiser the President of Kaiser Engineering. The President next meeting was with Senator John Carroll. That meeting was followed by a meeting with Philip Graham. After lunch the President had a meeting on Agricultural policy. He then had a meeting with George MGhee, R Davis, Russel Gilpatric, William Bundy , David Bell, McGeorge Bundy and David Klien. The President next met with Luther Hodges and them with Joseph Kraft. Ambassador Galbriath and Mrs Eunice Shriver dined with the President and First Lady. After dinner the First Couple and their guest attended the play "A Shot in the Dark" at the National Theater.
14 The President began his day with a meeting with his advisors on the Congo. The President next traveled to New York. In New York the President took part in the ground break ceremonies of the US pavilion at for the 1964 Worlds Fair. In the evening the President gave a major speech on the economy at the Economic Club of New York.
15 The President returned from New York to the White House.
16 President Kennedy attends Mass at St. Stephen's Church.
17 The President greeted Members of the Pennslyvanian State Football Team. He then met with Cyrus Vance the Secretary of the Army and General Wheller. The President next met with EXCOMM to discuss Cuba and the Congo. After the meeting LBJ, Rusk, Ball and Bundy met with the President. Next the President's Panel on a National Academy of Foreign Affairs presented its report to the President. The President also met with the US Ambassador to El Salvador. The President met with Congressman Frank Pace and Dr William Carr the Executive Secretary of the National Education Association. After Lunch the President chaired another meeting of the EXCOMM. The President next met with participant in the Arden House Conference. The President next participated in the annual Christmas Tree Lighting. The President next met with the Ambassador of India. The President ended his official day with a budget meeting.
18 The President Flew to Nassau in the Bahamas to meet British Prime Minister Macmillan. His meeting with Prime Minister Harold Macmillan was to discuss the decision to abandon the "Skybolt" missile program, Nassau, the Bahamas. The President participanted in a Press reception.
19 The President began the day by traveling to the Prime Minister;s residence. He met with Prime Minister Harold Macmillan to continue discussing the multilateral force and the "Skybolt" missile program. The Prime Minister hosted a luncheon for the President.
20 President Kennedy remained in Nassua for meetings with the British Prime Minister. In the evening Prime Minister Macmillan gave a dinner in honor of the President.
21 The President had two additional meetings with Prime Minister MacMillan. Late in the afternoon the President left Nassau for Palm Beach.
22 President Kennedy cruises Lake Worth aboard the Honey Fitz and goes for a swim, Palm Beach, Florida
23 The President and Mrs. Kennedy attend Mass at St. Edward's Church, Palm Beach, Florida. In the afternoon the President and Mrs Kennedy and the family took a cruise on the Honey Fitz
24 President Kennedy and Prince Stanislaus Radziwill cruise aboard the Honey Fitz, Palm Beach, Florida. The President went shopping on Worth Ave in Palm Beach.
25 Christmas Day- President and Mrs. Kennedy attend Mass at St. Ann's Church, Palm Beach, Florida. In the afternoon they took a cruise on the Honey Fitz. Late in the afternoon they hosted a party for members of the Secret Service and White House Press who were with them.
26 The President took a cruise aboard the Honey Fitz. He then had a meeting with Walter Heller and Kermit Gordon at the home of C. Michael Paul, Palm Beach, Florida.
27 The President who was still in Palm Beach began the day with a meeting with Golda Meir the Foreign Minister of Israel. He then met with the Joint Chief of Staff. In the afternoon the President went on a cruise, with him were Secrerary McNamara Gilparic, Maria Shriver, and Sydney Lawford. The President then met with the Cuban Exile Group.
28 The President attended the Swearing-in ceremony for Kermit Gordon as Director of the Bureau of the Budget, Palm Beach, Florida.
29 The President and First Lady travled to Miami and attended a rally in the Orange Bowl Stadium in honor of the returning Cuban prisoner from the Bay of Pigs. The President gave a address. The President and Mrs Kennedy returned to Palm Beach.
30 The President went to chuch at St Ann's Church. President and Mrs. Kennedy and guests cruised aboard the Honey Fitz, Palm Beach, Florida.
31 The Presdient gave interviews with reporters to assess the first two years in office, Palm Beach, FloridaThe President went on a number of cruiser. In the evening the President attended a New Year Party at Wrightsman Estate.
