The Presidency of Barack Obama- The First Days of Transition

The second week of the Obama Transition time was one of quiet planning. The week began with a visit to the White House for a meeting with President Bush.

Michelle Obama accompanied her husband on her visit and met with First Lady Laura Bush.

On November 15th key White House staff weere annonced, Valerie Jarrett, Phil Schiliro and Ron Klain. Valerie Jarrett will serve as Senior Advisor and Assistant to the President for Intergovernmental Relations and Public Liaison, Phil Schiliro as Assistant to the President for Legislative Affairs and Ron Klain to be the Chief of Staff to the Vice President.

The state of the economy continued to deteriate during the week. By the end of the week speculation turned to the possibilty that Senator Hilary Clinton might be selected to become the Secretary of State.
